If you learned anything in last night’s speech, then the rock you’re living under must be pretty large. It was the same old rhetoric offering the same faux “solutions” to real problems. Spending money we don’t have is irresponsible and irrational. The Federal Reserve printing money out of thin air is irresponsible and irrational. Last night, our fearless leader declared that he would raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for federal workers and thus solve the poverty problem. He also laid out a list of ideas for tax “reform” that would create a level playing field. The scary thing is, even if the election had gone in a different direction last November, this speech would have sounded the same. Just a few questions, then I’ve gotta go.
1) Why raise the minimum wage to $10.10? Why not $50? Why not $100? If raising the minimum wage a little will solve the problem in a few years, why not raise it a lot and solve the problem quicker?
2) What happens if I don’t want to give my money to the Federal Government? What happens if I want to keep my money rather than give it to the Federal Government to give to someone else?
